The U.S. Department of the Treasury reported that foreign holdings of U.S. Treasuries totaled a record $9.49 trillion in February 2026, up from $9.29 trillion in January 2026, according to Reuters. Japan and the U.K. were the largest foreign holders of Treasuries in February, at $1.24 trillion and $0.90 trillion, respectively. For comparison, China’s U.S. Treasury holdings totaled $0.69 trillion in February 2026.
