FactSet reported that 1,195 merger and acquisition (M&A) deals were announced in the U.S. market in July 2026, down 13.6% from 1,383 deals in the previous month. Aggregate M&A spending also declined month-over-month, falling from $374.4 billion in June 2026 to $202.0 billion in July 2026.
