Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory reported that there were roughly 8,200 projects actively seeking a connection to the U.S. energy grid at the end of 2025, representing over 2,060 gigawatts (GW) of generation and storage. Natural gas capacity awaiting connection totaled 253 GW, an increase of 86% year-over-year. For comparison, solar and wind capacity in the queue each declined by 19% year-over-year to 773 GW and 220 GW, respectively.
