The National Chicken Council, drawing on USDA data, reported that Americans consumed 104.3 pounds of chicken per capita in 2025, making it the country’s most-consumed protein. The U.S. produced nearly 9.4 billion broiler chickens that year, yielding over 48 billion pounds of ready-to-cook chicken products, an increase of 2.2% year-over-year. About 14% of that production was exported, ranking the U.S. second to Brazil in global exports.
