Commonwealth Research and the BlackRock Foundation reported that a record 54% of Americans with annual incomes between $30,000 and $80,000 currently own a taxable investment account, according to The Wall Street Journal. Half of those investors entered the market in the last five years. Data from the JPMorganChase Institute revealed that Americans with below-median incomes currently contribute 11% of all dollars flowing into retail investment accounts, up from an average of nearly 6% between 2010 and 2015.
