S&P Global Market Intelligence reported that 749 U.S. corporations filed for bankruptcy protection in 2025 (through December 14th), up from 688 filings in calendar year 2024. Last year's tally marks the highest total since 2010 when 828 U.S. corporations filed for bankruptcy protection.
