U.S. crude oil production totaled a record 13.6 million barrels per day in 2025, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The Permian region in western Texas and southeastern New Mexico accounted for 48% of total U.S. crude oil production during the year. For comparison, the Eagle Ford and Bakken regions each accounted for nine percent of total U.S. crude oil production in 2025.
